Unboxing My March Violet Box!
It’s that time of the month beauty bees – when finally a box full of beautiful goodies, arrives at your door, ready for you to sample and put to the test 🙂 This is my second Violet Box and I’m happy with it’s contents. To be fair, out of the 5 items in the box, only two have really intrigued me and will be happily used up pronto! The rest will either find new homes (and I won’t be embarrassed to pass on these goodies as they are decent quality from what I can tell) or wait for an a special occasion to be used. So let’s take a look at what was inside!

The Violet Box! I do hope they update the design of this box, but I like that it is sturdy and re-useable.

As you can see above, there is 4 full sized goodies and only one sample sized product! That’s pretty impressive! For me it’s not all about value for money (even though clearly, you are getting over $22.95 worth of products), it’s also largely about discovering new brands and finding products which work for me! There’s no point in getting full sized products, unless you are going to actually use them and enjoy using them. But anyhoo, let’s get into the nitty gritty part of the post (product description and first impressions)!

Above (from top to bottom): Mirenesse Velvet Lip Lift Moisture Shine (the coral one) and SweetPea Liquid Lipstick in Paper Cut (the pink one).
Mirenesse Velvet Lip Lift Moisture Shine in no. 47 – RRP: $39.95 – Full sized product. This is a lovely lip gloss. I received a peachy pink shade (leaning more into peach territory), with tiny flecks of shimmer throughout the gloss. It’s a little sticky, but that isn’t something that bothers me (it means it will last longer!). The colour is definitely noticeable on the lips – it’s pretty opaque for a lip gloss. I don’t usually go for peach/apricot toned lip products, as they can tend to be to warm for my skin tone, but the added pink in this gloss mellows out the warmth a bit. It’s not a shade I would use everyday, but I think it will be a nice addition to my collection (and definitely for summer)! Violet Box also included a little sachet full of Mirenesse coupons, which is nice. It’s not a brand I am automatically attracted to (they have been around for a while to!) – perhaps because I’m not very familiar with the products. If I hear of some good reviews/products, I might be tempted, but at the moment, the gloss isn’t revolutionary enough to tempt me to try another product from the brand.
SweetPea Liquid Lipstick in Paper Cut – RRP: $13.00 – Full sized product. This liquid lipstick reminds me a little of the OCC Lip Tars, except that this product is more creamy and thick. The slanted tip applicator is a bit useless – you can’t get a precise application with the tip, as the product comes out in blobs and you need to be very precise with your application (as the product is so pigmented – so a lip brush is recommended!). The shade I received is a very cool toned, light bubble gum pink. It’s not a colour I would usually wear, especially considering the intensity of the pigment in this product. Its not a brand that I’m familiar with and I’m not that intrigued to check out their other products. For the price however, you are getting a really decent product (worth the buckaroos!) so I will be passing this one on to a friend 🙂

Above (from top to bottom): SweetPea Liquid Lipstick in Paper Cut (bright, bright bubblegum pink!), Mirenesse Velvet Lip Lift Moisture Shine in no. 47 (you can see any pink in the swatch above, but it is there! ) and Starlooks Gem Pencil in Topaz (super metallic!).
Starlooks Gem Pencil in Topaz- RRP: $19.50 – Full sized product. This is another brand, which I am unfamiliar with. The pencil is super soft and super shimmery/metallic. The shimmer does travel however, so I’m unsure how I would use this pencil (perhaps with an eyeshadow base to stop the product migrating) but it also is a kind of out there shade, so I doubt I will get much use out of this pencil (except for when I’m rocking it out at the disco!). Violet Box is really going for colour this month aren’t they!

Above: Love those Lashes New Silk Strip Lashes
Love those Lashes New Silk Strip Lashes – RRP: $14.95 – Full sized product. Reusuable lashes (up to 15 times apparently!). Again, I’m not a false eyelashes kinda girl – but I have a lot of friends who are, so I will find these babies a home! Silk lashes, which are very long, in a plastic, protective case. There is also a vile of glue included in the case but it looks a little suss to me (no ingredient list, no label on the glue etc) but then again – it could be awesome glue, I just wouldn’t know. The case is quite retro looking which is cute!

Above: Acorelle Night Cream
Acorelle Night Cream – RRP: $49.50 – Sample size 2ml. This isn’t a brand that I have heard of before, but I like the sound of their products! Acorelle is a French brand, that specialises in organic skin care products and fragrances. Oh, how I wish I received a bigger sample of this little guy! The night cream pictured above, is part of their youth protector range which harnesses the power of polyphenols (acts as an anti-oxidant and is derived from propolis). It also contains shea butter, apricot kernal oil, lemon verbena flower water, borage seed oil, glycerin, olive fruit oil, sunflower oil, pea extract (strange – but it is further down the list lol). The propolis extract and pollen extract is also further down the ingredient list – so I’m not sure how effective it is. I will give it a fair go, as it does sound rich and hydrating.
So, that is it beauty bees! This wasn’t the best beauty sampler box ever – but it was nice and I found out about some new brands and products, which I like to do. I probably won’t use all of the products, but my $22.95 went pretty far this month, so that’s something!
Sorry that some of my photos aren’t very sharp, it was super bright this afternoon and my phone camera was misbehaving 🙁 I wanted to post up my Violet Box review slash unboxing ASAP, so I didn’t have that much time to play around with the photos. Hopefully they aren’t tooo bad!
Do you receive any beauty sampler boxes? How did yours fair this month?
