Review: Tatcha Deep Hydration Firming Eye Serum
I know it probably seems like I go on about Tatcha products quite a bit and it’s probably true…. BUT that’s only because they make wonderful products and hence I want to share my findings with you 🙂 And no – my post’s are not sponsored (unfortunately! 😉 ). Today I have a review for you, of their eye serum, which I find is perfect for day time use.

Here is what Tatcha promises their Luminous Deep Hydrating Firming Eye Serum will do for you;
This weightless serum of Okinawa Red Algae, Honeysuckle Leaf and Caffeine offers instantly-visible firming, reduced puffiness, and plumping hydration to diminish fine lines. Why it’s different: A cooling ceramic applicator and fine dust of 23-karat gold brighten and diminish shadows under the eyes without adding shimmer. Who it’s for: All skin types. Non-comedogenic. Non-irritating. Non-sensitizing. Dermatologist tested. Ophthalmologist tested.
I feel that the skin underneath my eyes is super demanding. Not only is the skin super thin around the eye area, but it also can’t seem to get enough moisture. I wish I was one of those girls who could just use her daily moisturiser around the eye area, but I find most creams to be too heavy ironically (I think Asian girls win out big here!). I suffer from dark under-eye circles and I have one to many late nights quite regularly, so I want my eye area to look as vibrant and hydrated as possible. This is probably one of the points I am most self-conscious about – looking tired because of my dark under eye circles even when Im not… Add on top of this the fact that every girl probably wakes up with a puffy face from time to time, you will find it difficult to find an eye cream which can combat puffiness, provide your skin with a big dose of hydration (to fill dehydration lines and make the area look plump for most of the day) AND look good under makeup. The Tatcha Deep Hydratng Firming Eye Serum is the BEST eye cream I have ever used when it comes to day time use. It not only ticks all of the boxes mentioned above, but the application process itself is so wonderful and luxurious, it makes my morning skin routine a pleasure even when I’d give a leg to go back to sleep!
First of all, you might notice the unique applicator of the eye serum. You squeeze a little of the product out of the tube, onto the applicator and then use the applicator to spread the eye serum around the eye area. You don’t have to use your fingers in this process, minimising any pulling or tugging of the skin.

The applicator is ceramic and perfectly cooling around the eye area. When using it to distribute the eye serum, it feels like you are giving yourself a little massage! It’s not too shocking cooling like menthol can tend to be, but just cooling enough. The massaging action along with the coolness of the ceramic applicator, helps drain away any fluid causing the puffiness. Caffeine in the eye serum itself, also helps to get your circulation going around the eye area, so you also look more awake.
The serum feels quite light in texture, almost a little bit like a gel. It feels a lot more hydrating however, compared to your regular gel eye cream. This must be because of super hydrating ingredients like squalane (olive oil origin), avocado oil, royal jelly extract (an emollient and humectant), honeysuckle, apricot kernal oil, rosa canina fruit oil and sunflower seed oil. It also contains lots of great antioxidants, to help protect your skin from oxidative stress throughout the day – green tea, red algae and squalane (also an antioxidant!). The brightening properties of the serum make me super excited, because silk and gold (23 karat gold) are so high in the ingredient list! Silk first and foremost gives skin a lustrous look and smooth feeling to the touch. It is just perfect for prepping your skin for makeup application! Gold is an exciting ingredient, because you can break it down into the tiniest of particles (micronisation). Locked in lipid carriers, it has the ability to reach the deeper levels of your epidermis (you’d be surprised how many skin scare ingredients cannot do this!). In the deeper levels of the epidermis, gold has the ability to boost collagen production and elastin (hence why I think the eye serum has the word firming in it’s name). Because gold is listed quite high in the ingredient list (not in the first 5 ingredients listed – but not near the end either) I do think it has the ability to make a difference. I don’t have saggy skin per se, but anything that can help stop the breakdown of collagen and elastin is a winner. It also may have an effect on stopping melanin production (pigmentation). Licorice root extract also helps with brightening the skin and sits nice and high on the ingredient list.

You will notice that the eye serum has a luminosity to it. There is no shimmer heaven forbid or tint, but just a luminous glow you notice in some lights. Because of the eye serums texture and because it sinks into the ski beautifully, it works with every concealer I have tried to pair it with (my current under eye concealer is quite heavy duty as well – Makeup For Ever Full Cover). Even though it is called a serum, I don’t layer another eye cream over the top of it. I don’t find my skin needs it. Perhaps it’s called a serum because of it’s light texture yet super hydrating/effective ingredients? Who knows!

You get your standard 15ml of product for $85 US dollars. I find the eye serum lasts me a really long time, because the applicator spreads even a little product very far and evenly. It probably lasts me a good 4 months when used in the mornings only. You can of course use it in the evenings also, but I like to user an eye cream with a richer texture in the evening. I will keep coming back to this eye serum for as long as I can, that’s how much I love it! 🙂 <3 You can find the Deep Hydration Firming Eye Serum on Tathca’s official website. At the moment I do believe, you can get free international shipping, when you spend over $150 US dollars instead of the usual $250 🙂
The delicious candle in the photos above is from Sanctuary candles, by Jasmine Gan. Jasmine makes all her candles by hand in Malaysia, using the best soy wax available. I love her minimalistic design and fresh, clean fragrances. Even with shipping, the candles are still affordable (the candles themselves work out to be about $27-28 Aus dollars each) and the scents are to die for. Coconut and Lime (as pictured above) just smells like summer and popsicles! I have also tried the Green Tea candle, which is soothing and refreshing at the same time. If you love drinking green tea, you will love it! I looooove candles, but I haven’t lost my mind to the point of spending $100+ for ONE candle…. They are a wonderful treat for yourself though, so I highly recommend the Sanctuary line 🙂
So beauties, have you tried any Tatcha skincare products yet? Are you a candle fan? Let me know if you have any candle recommendations below! 🙂
