Review: Pure Fiji Perfecting Lotion & a Word or Two on Exfoliation
Summer is upon us and soon everyone will be hitting the beach! Somehow when we start getting more sun and a bit of a tan, many think that exfoliating will make a tan/sun kissed skin fade more quickly. But that isn’t the case at all! After some good ol’ exfoliation, your skin tone will be more even and your tan will gain a glow that wasn’t there before. Removing all those dead skin cells will showcase your tan more and get your circulation pumping, that means healthier skin!
The quickest way to exfoliate is via a sugar or salt scrub. I did a review of the FAB Pure Fiji Coconut Sugar Rub in Starfruit – you can read up on that here. Pure Fiji has a wide range of different scents to choose from and the additional oils nourish and moisturise your skin. *TIP* After intense sun exposure and tanning, wait three days before you decide to use a sugar/salt scrub. Your skin will be healing and be in recovery mode, so you don’t want to stress it out even more and cause unnecessary inflammation.
If you experience back acne, pigmentation, uneven skin tone on your body or very dry skin – then an exfoliating body lotion containing AHA’s/BHA’s is the perfect solution for you! They ‘melt’ away old skin cells and increase the rate of their turnover. Natural or chemical acids can help lighten and even out your skin tone. Use it every day for about two weeks to notice the effects. Just make sure you use sunscreen when you go out into the sun, because your skin may be more sensitive and delicate during your ‘treatment’. Chemical exfoliants are less abrasive than physical exfoliants, thats why when dealing with acne for example, they cause less inflammation/stress on your skin, when skin could already be inflamed from the acne. The same principal applies when dealing with face acne.
So what’s a great body lotion type exfoliant? Well I’m glad you ask! I have been trying out the new Pure Fiji Perfecting Lotion. This is what Pure Fiji says about the product:
“Restore and resurface dry skin with this perfecting body lotion. A trifector of Amino Acids recharges the skin’s own rejuvenating processes. Skin cell turnover is made more efficient, smoothing and brightening skin tone whilst restoring hydration levels. Nourishing blends of exotic nut extracts with Beach Almond Hydrosol combine with fresh Coconut Milk to rapidly hydrate, nourish and firm your skin adding vitality and softness. Apply to body from neck down.”

The lotion is light and fruity – but doesn’t have an overpowering artificial scent. It’s fruity and refreshing! I have a feeling it’s thanks to the delicious addition of Passionflower. Because it helps skin cell turnover occur much more rapidly than it would otherwise, the additional moisturises can penetrate into the skin more deeply. It gives you the hydration of a body butter, without the heavy texture. My skin feels nourished and so smooth and silky. I usually shave my legs, but I’ve noticed that when the hair is growing back the skin on my legs gets incredibly itchy. This relives that itchiness and when I shave I get a closer shave. I do have some pigmentation/uneven skin tone on my back from when I experienced an allergic reaction to something. The doctor said it should even out in time, however to help that along this has been perfect! The difference so far has been subtle, but that’s probably because I have been using it every second day for two weeks. I still have plenty of product left so I will continue this regime once I get back from my weekend away (as I plan to do some beaching!).

The white matt bottle contains a handy pump and is a very simple and elegant. I also love the box it comes in. It would be a gorgeous gift – it’s not a product you would use everyday, all the time and I think that any mum or aunt would be thrilled! Or beauty/skin care addict like me 😛 You get a generous 200ml for $49.95. If you want to check it out, you can find it on Pure Fiji’s website here.

Have you tried any Pure Fiji products? This is my second Pure Fiji product and I have to say that I’m hooked! It really does take you away to somewhere warm and tropical and the ingredients are so good! They are quality products which you can feel for yourself on your skin 🙂
