Review: Pure Fiji Coconut Sugar Rub in Starfruit
I haven’t used a scrub in a little while, as the last couple that I owned were a little disappointing (one of the them I couldn’t actually wash off – the granules just stuck to my skin like nothing else!). Since it’s spring here in Sydney, I thought that it was about time I got rid of my wintery dull skin with a new scrub. My sister is a big fan of Pure Fiji products, so I thought I’d give them a go! They support local communities in Fiji and use high quality ingredients (some fancy scrubs only look very appealing but when you look at the ingredients, they are usually quite ordinary with a couple of fancy fragrances thrown in) which work to give wonderfully soft and healthy skin. So what could be better?! I picked the scent strarfruit, again because it was recommended to me by my sister. I wanted something that smelt nice (obviously lol) but not in an overpowering sort of way.

This scrub was exactly what I was after! Even though it is a sugar scrub, the granules don’t melt away so quickly that you don’t have enough time to massage them on your skin (I’m look at you Body Shop sugar scrub!). The granules are quite big, but they don’t feel like they are stripping your skin like sandpaper. They give you just enough friction to make you feel like they are working – and they are! This must be thanks to the sugarcane. The scrub also contains naturally occurring alpha hydroxyl to buff away dead skin cells and unclog pores.
It was sooo nice to give myself a scrub down from head to toe (minus my face obviously)! I’m always a bit more gentle when scrubbing my chest/decolletage area (as everyone should be!) as your skin is quite thin and delicate there. As the scrub contains cold pressed virgin coconut oil, the scrub can solidify if the jar has been stored in cooler temperatures. This is easily fixed by holding the jar in some warm water for a minute. It should then be a little more soft, enough so that you can scoop out some of the product. The jar is so huge that I think I will be using this scrub for quite a while! I can also recommend the scent. Starfruit is a bit ambiguous I must admit – I’ve never thought about how they actually smell lol. It’s lightly floral and fresh. Like a garden after some summer showers, perfect!
Because of al the oils in the scrub, it leaves your skin with rich barrier – so you definitely don’t need to moisturise afterwards. My skin was and is crazily soft afterwards. I may not be able to go to Fiji on a whim, but I can most definitely bring a little of Fiji to me! 😀

A 475ml tub of this scrub will set you back $49.95 Aus monies, but as I said, it will last you a very long time! You can find it at the Pure Fiji website here along with their other goodies. Or if your a fan of Bellabox, you can also find it on their website here (they only have the scrubs and lotions available at the moment). I think I will have to try a body lotion next or a bath milk!
What scrub are you using at the moment? Any favourites?
