Review: Origin’s Peace of Mind on the Spot Relief

I discovered this product thanks to Splishsplasch (another great Australian beauty blogger!) and it came at such a perfect moment. I get a lot of headaches (migraines to be specific) and this week has been relentless… A busy schedule, stress at home and

bam
  1. one headache after another. When I read Splishsplasch’s comments on Origin’s Peace of Mind Spot Relief, that it calms her down and allows her to stay positive, clear headed and focused, I figured that I had to buy it and try it for myself. When you’re tired, sleep deprived and stressed, if ANYTHING can help even a fraction and bring some relief, it can really help make a difference in the long run. I also read online that it works well for tension headaches, sleeplessness (so using it before bed) and even sinus discomfort.

So what exactly is it? A light white gel, which you massage into your temples , back of the neck  and/or earlobes. When you breathe in deeply, the scent from oils in the product works on your senses to relieve tension. Here is what Origin’s say about the product:

“Massage this mind-clearing formula into the back of your neck, temples and ear-lobes. Breathe deeply and feel pressure and tension melt away. Avoid the eye area.”

The blend of peppermint, rosemary, eucalyptus and basil is really refreshing. The peppermint is cooling at the same time and if you suffer from headaches you probably know that cold compresses can really help to relieve some of the discomfort you experience during a headache. The scent isn’t so intense that it will knock you out (or the people around you) but is strong enough to work on your senses and give you some moments of peace whilst residing in insanity lol so it really does do what it claims. The texture isn’t oily at all (I thought it would be very oily) – it is a gel which disappears into the skin quite quickly (especially when you rub/massage it in). So it’s easy to use and effective.

The product comes in a little 15ml pump bottle, which you can carry around in your handbag. While it doesn’t get rid of my headaches completely – it relieves some discomfort and works to reduce tension and stress – when you have things to do, this helps immensely. If you experience tension headaches, this might be the bomb for you! I definitely love it  already and I plan to try to use it at night when I’m restless.

Surprisingly, it’s also quite cheap – $18 Australian gold coins will buy you this little beauty. The product has inspired me to get out my oil burner and hopefully soon I will buy myself some new essential oils for burning 🙂 With Autumn starting tomorrow, I can already smell the eucalyptus in my mind (it’s antibacterial and so warming)! I will update you when I amass a little collection of oils. Here are some gorgeous shots of a eucalyptus flower and Australian wattle for the mean time though 😛

In Australia, you can find this little gem at Kit Cosmetics and Mecca Cosmetica. Have you tried this little wonder? Does it spark your interest?
