Review: La Clinica White Brilliant Intensive Correction Pigmentation Mask ☀️⛱ 💎

La Clinica is an Australian cosmoceautical brand that I only found out about recently, despite the fact that they’ve been around since 1995! 🐨🌱 My Sister was raving about their cooling gel for burns and how effective it was (I believe they’ve discontinued this product now tho 😥) and then I won this mask! 🙉 Their products are all about proven effective ingredients, as well as certified organic ingredients. They have a ‘professional only’ line (available to salons and Dermatologists) but their retail line which you and I can purchase from, still contains some butt-kicking formulations! PLUS their prices are very reasonable considering all of this… on my skincare wish list is their 30% vitamin C serum 🤩 but today is all about their White Brilliant Intensive Correction Pigmentation Mask 💎

I’ve been treating my pigmentation spots using laser treatments recently. I don’t have a lot of spots, but I’m fair and I’ve grown up in Australia, so enough said really lol I’ve definitely had more pigmentation come to the surface since starting my laser treatment because it draws out pigment from the deeper layers of your skin where a lot of sun damage is hidden. On top of this, I still live in Australia and during my treatments I should try and stay away from the sun. That’s pretty hard to do out here… so you can imagine that I would be worried about exposing my face to the harsh elements here and trying to do my best to help the laser process of ‘fading’ the pigmentation colour in my skin. The laser draws the pigment out of your skin and breaks it down. It then flakes or fades away (whatever was ‘drawn out’) lightening or completely getting rid of the pigmentation. If a mask can help inhibit the formation of pigmentation (prevention) than awesome 👏 😎 But if it can help fade pigmentation at the same time, even better!!!

The mask is a light white cream, which you apply generously to clean, damp skin (after cleansing I pat my skin dry with a towel and then apply the mask). Leave on skin for 15 minutes and then you wash it off, following on with your regular skincare.

What I love about this mask is that it is gentle, soothing and hydrating. Skin is left feeling comfortable and moisturised. This is probably due to the peptides in the formula. ‘Signal peptides’ are a specific category of peptides, and they are designed to stimulate collagen synthesis, increase elastin and help the skin look firmer and younger. This accounts for the mask leaving your skin feeling hydrated and plump! La Clinica also mention that the mask works to lighten hyper-pigmentation spots faster and sooner – those are the reddish/purple spots you get after a pimple. Hyper-pigmentation is actually primarily cause by inflammation and the ingredients in the mask soothe skin. It looks clearer and more calm afterwards. Redness is gone. This would be the anti-inflammatory ingredients working their magic! This effect alone would make your skin tone look more even and clear, even if some of your pigmentation spots still remain.

What about the pigmentation lightening powers the mask claims to have? I do believe it has prevented my pigmentation spots darkening and maybe it does help to lighten them over time. It’s really hard to test this claim because I haven’t been using this mask on it’s own to fight my pigmentation spots (hello laser!). I also use a vitamin C serum every morning together with sunscreen, so I wouldn’t be surprised if all these products work in synergy together to help prevent pigmentation forming in the first place, prevent existing pigmentation from darkening and getting worse and lighten pigmentation spots over time. It is certainly not making my pigmentation worse! Because there are noticeable immediate effects after you apply the mask (as I mention in the paragraph above!) I’m happy to keep using the mask and I hope it works to lighten my remaining pigmentation over time. I’ve said this before in a few posts (especially my review of the Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Babyfacial Mask) most masks work best if used consistently over time. Like all skincare! Sure, we use them for immediate effects like hydration, calming of the skin, increased circulation (and glow! 🌟) but don’t expect long lasting miracles unless you use masks regularly. The White Brilliant Intensive Correction Pigmentation Mask should be used once or twice a week. I’ve been using it once a week but really want to start using it twice a week for better results. The mask doesn’t have a scent (not that I can detect).

The ingredients of the mask aren’t available on the website or even the packaging (you get an ingredient list on a little piece of paper enclosed with the mask) which I’ve lost of course 😓 as you do! 🤦🏼‍♀️ This is a bit silly I think – the ingredients should be easily available, especially online. I will email La Clinica and ask for a copy of the ingredient list so I can post it for you here. UPDATE The ingredients of the mask may differ slightly based on the batch number of the mask. The ingredients of my mask are as follows;

The other thing I don’t love is that the word ‘white’ is used in the product name. Sure, the mask doesn’t bleach skin etc. etc. but then why mention ‘white’ in the product name? I just don’t think it’s necessary and for me it conjures up the awful marketing messaging used in Asia (the message that clear and beautiful skin is white, or as pale as possible). If they dropped the word ‘white’ from the product name, the name would still make sense and it would be shorter (ha!). A plus, no? 💁🏼‍♀️

Price wise, the mask is on the more affordable side of the spectrum. The White Brilliant Intensive Correction Pigmentation Mask costs $32 AUD online, via La Clinica’s website. They do also offer worldwide shipping! It’s pricey if you order less than $200 AUD worth of products (then the shipping cost is a flatmate of $40 AUD) but over $200, a flat rate of $20 AUD is offered. I LOVE that their products contain punchy active ingredients and despite being salon quality, are not over priced. They may not be ‘the Ordinary’ prices, but the products are far more pleasant to use and you get clear directions on how to use them in order to get the best results. The formulas are also well balanced from what I can tell. Being made in Australia is another big bonus for me! 🐨🦘🌱

If you have problems with fading hyper-pigmentation spots (acne suffers like me!) or you suffer from redness in your skin in general, give this mask a go! It’s also a no-brainer if you are seriously targeting your pigmentation through a few tactics. Or – if you have pigmentation prone skin and you are travelling to the tropics or somewhere incredibly sunny (mountains for example have a high exposure of strong UV rays because air is cleaner and you are up higher) then this mask may be perfect for you (prevent pigmentation and help it deal with inflammation and stress better). Tip I would also use it the night before being exposed to the elements.

Remember also that no one has perfect skin. It’s incredibly rare for someone to have NO pigmentation. Despite a few spots, consistently sticking to a skincare routine will make your skin appear brighter and more healthy anyway. Let me know your thoughts on this subject 😉🌸🌼🐝
