Review: Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tints, Bare Pink & Bare Nude šŸ’‹šŸŒøšŸŒ¼šŸŒø

Oh how I love super hydrating lip products! ā¤ļøšŸ’‹šŸ’‹šŸ’‹Ā The Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tints are FABULOUS! They are seriously fancy lip balms that have a sheer tint of colour, making you look a little more polished and making your face look a little brighter and healthier 🄰🄰 Read on for some more information on the available colours and how they nourish your lips!

WHAT IT ISLightweight, sheer and ultra-moisturising, our Extra Lip Tint has all the benefits of your go-to balm, plus a just-bitten stain that brings out the best in lips. Our favourite part? The subtle stain blends in with your natural lip colour, so it’s instantly your perfect shade (and everyone else’s, too).WHY IT’S DIFFERENTThe latest addition toĀ our Extra Skincare collection, Extra Lip Tint smoothes, softens and comforts lips instantly and over time. You’ll see fewer fine lines, fuller lips and zero flakes. While the rich formula is working its magic, the soft pigment blends with your lips’ natural tone for a just-for-you stain.HOW TO USEApply to bare lips directly from tube.

The Extra Lip Tints are seriously fancy lip balms which are hydrating and nourishing, yet impart a wash of translucent colour on your lips (no matter which shade you buy). They come in a sleek lipstick casing, so there’s no need to use your fingers to apply the product – you just swipe it on from the bullet! The black and white casing is made from a light weight metal, making them easy to carry in your bag day to day. The Extra Lip Tints look fancy but also feel fancy on the lips because of how smooth and rich they are. How they feel on the lips is the most important quality of this lip tint after all šŸ˜‰šŸ’‹šŸ’‹ The tints feel like a super nourishing balm and they apply very easily from the bullet – it’s quite a soft formula, so it’s easy to get enough product on the lips so that they feel ā€˜plump’ (from the rich formula) and comfortable. They aren’t sticky in the slightest and yet they have great staying power for a lip balm type product. I would say that I get about 2-3 hours wear if I am not drinking or eating too much.

From what I can tell, the balm’s main ingredient is microcrystalline wax, which is a derivative of petroleum (in the same basket as petroleum jelly). It’s used as a binder, viscosity agent and is highly emollient. It’s often used as an alternative to paraffin wax. Don’t be fooled by scare tactics – petroleum is NOT toxic (the cosmetic grade petroleum is purified), it doesn’t actually cause breakouts and as such, it doesn’t just sit on top of the skin causing and ā€˜un-breathable layer’ – it is an occlusive sealing in water, but it also sinks into the skin and improves how well your natural oils and skin functions, providing cells with ā€˜cushioning’ – that’s what emollients do! šŸŒŸšŸ’¦). The poor ingredient gets so much bad rep because of its name. Scare tactics work really well in marketing after all. It’s an ingredient that’s been researched REALLY well over a long period of time. So why buy this lip tint if you could get a similar effect from vaseline? LOL Good question! šŸ¤”ā˜ļøBecause it also contains cocoa, babassu, jojoba, avocado and olive fruit seed oils! Plus squalene – super hydrator and antioxidant. Plus the colours of the lip tints of course!

Above: All the available shades of the Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tints are shown above, except for ā€˜Bare Pink Sparkle’. It’s exactly like Bare Pink except with added sparkle lolĀ

There are 7 shades of the Extra Lip Tints currently available. Only one of the shades contains shimmer and that is ā€˜Bare Pink Sparkle’. I have the colours Bare Pink and Bare Nude – I loooove both for different occasions. Bare Pink is a translucent bright pink, which makes lips ā€˜pop’ in quite a subtle yet noticeable way (I know that doesn’t make much sense LOL). It automatically brings a natural flush to the lips, making you look overall more healthy and ā€˜awake’. On the other hand, Bare Nude is deeper shade that almost looks like a rosey nude. All the Extra Lip Tints have a gorgeous sheen to them – not like a high shine gloss, but more so like a rich lip balm. Ā If you have quite chapped of flakey lips, the colour can sometimes get ā€˜caught’ on dry skin and the colour of the tint then applies a little unevenly, however this is easily fixed my massaging the tints into the lips using a finger. They bring a lot of relief to dry lips and because they have great longevity, you won’t feel like you have to apply them every 10 minutes in order to stop the ā€˜itchy’ uncomfortable feeling you get from seriously chapped lips. Castor oil based lip balms can often give me a dry mouth effect, but these lip tints don’t contain castor oil, so that problem is avoided. The Extra Lip Tints also don’t have a particular scent or flavour, so they would make the perfect gifts and won’t annoy those with sensitive noses! šŸ˜‰šŸŽšŸ›šŸŽ€

The Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tints retail for $56 AUD for 2.3g of product. Yes, they are pricey, so it’s up to you to decide whether such a product would meet your needs and expectations (and if you can afford it or perhaps would prefer to spend the money on something else). I love them and I find they work brilliantly when I’m at work. Sometimes at work I don’t want to wear lipstick which can be a little high maintenance – or – sometimes my lips are too chapped and dry for lipstick to look good. The Extra Lip Tints are perfect in such scenarios because they give the lips some colour but most of all, hydration. Even day to day they make me feel a little bit uplifted and more ā€˜put together’. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one of these for someones birthday either. It really is a luxe version of an ā€˜everyday essential’! I would love to try Bare Raspberry or Bare Punch next! šŸ˜…šŸ’‹šŸ’‹šŸ’‹šŸ™ŒĀ Find them at Bobbi Brown counters, online or via Adore Beauty.Ā
