Nails of the Day: Bandaid

I received this interesting nail duo in my Violet Box last month and the brand really intrigued me! They are a little brand from the US called STRANGEBEAUTIFUL, inspired by design and saturated colours which step outside the box in regards to ‘standard nail trends’. They want their colour library to be vibrant, eclectic, provocative and ornamental. I really appreciate this fresh take on nail colours. Their nail polishes are also ‘3 free’, as in free of  Formaldehyde, Toluene, and DBP (dibutyl phthalate). The nail polishes are meant to be creamy, opaque and chip resistant – all of the good stuff! I received the colours Bandaid (a rosey nude shade) and Knoll (a bright tomato red) in my duo. I really wanted to try Bandaid first as it reminds me of the 90s and is a colour that should go with most outfits and my ever changing moods 😛 I think Bandaid is a funny and yet fitting name for the colour!

I’ve been prepping my nails first with a cuticle/nail oil (Handbag Holiday by Butter London), then by painting on a base coat (I’ve been trying a new base coat/strengthening nail polish by Sally Hansen – Complete Care 4 in 1 Nail Treatment). After applying my nail colour, I finish off my manicure with my favourite ever top coat – Sally Hansen’s Mega Shine 🙂

I really like this colour. I think it looks more stunning on the nail then in the bottle actually. The nail polish goes on smoothly and you could probably get away with one coat (I always go with two, just to get more of a colour punch!). The only issue I have with this nail polish is that after about three days it does start to chip. After putting in all of the prep work and using a top coat, I would have liked it to last longer. I’m hoping that the red nail polish lasts and performs a little better.

They are most definitely thinking outside the box and seem to be a brand that wants to try new colour combinations and break the ‘rules’. Each nail polish duo comes with 4ml of each nail colour, perfect for travelling. A duo like this will set you back $20 and you can find STRANGEBEAUTIFUL nail polishes at Violet Box. Their range is still a little small, so I hope Violet Box extends the range soon!

What do you think of these colours? Have you heard of Strangebeautiful before?

I’m so glad it’s the weekend! It’s meant to be a rainy and windy one in Sydney, so I hope you are soaking up the sun wherever you are!
