My April Violet Box
April is just zooming by like a granny on crack, so I’m slightly startled lol Luckily towards the end of the month, when I really start to freak out, my Violet Box appears and lets me focus on something delightful for a little while 🙂

I won’t show you the Violet box itself as it’s a boring black box (which my beagle happily tears apart lol!). I would like the design of the box to be updated as I’m not a big fan of it, but it is sturdy and keeps all your goodies safe. So onto the products at once!

Above: The contents of April’s box.

Cedel Scented Hairsprays, RRP: $4.99 ,100g – full sized product. I’ve heard of Cedel hairsprays before but I’ve never tried them out before. I love that they are an Australian brand who also manufactures their products here in Aus. I actually need a firm hold hairspray (I use the Moroccan Oil hair spray which has quite a light to medium hold but doesn’t go crunchy which I love) and I was thinking about testing out a cheap alternative and here we go! The scent is nice and floral. I think the packaging is also fun without being tacky.

Bioderma Crealine H20, RRP: $19.95 (for 100ml) $29.95 (for 250ml) and $39.95 (for 500ml) – 20ml sample. I use Bioderma’s Hydrabio micelle (cleansing) water and I love it (review here). My mum uses the Crealine (Sensibio) H20 version which is very similar to the Hydrabio. I love these little mini bottles because they will be perfect for weekends away and it’s a fab product, so win win! It’s gentle, effective and removes eye makeup nicely. The Australian prices are a little high for me personally, so if you would like to find out where you can find the authentic product for cheaper, check out my Hydrabio review.
Villainess Dulce en Fuego Whipped! RRP: $15.00 for 170g – I’m not sure how big this sample is, I would say about 20 or 30g. This is a brand that I have wanted to try for a while. Hailing from Tennessee, they make delectable soaps and body creams. This particular body cream is like a whipped body butter. The texture is awesome, hydrating and rich but not greasy. I’m not a huge fan of this scent though – coconut and cherry? But in saying that, the ingredient list is fab and seeing as it’s quite a small niche brand, you can expect quality ingredients! I can’t wait to try a soap from Villainess – I’m a soap feen!

Teez Trend Cosmetics Chain of Stone Nail Lacquer in Melted Copper, RRP: $15.00 – full sized product. Again, a little niche brand from the Netherlands – cool! This is a holographic nail polish shade. The base colour is a coppery red and it gold slash green sparkles in it. I haven’t tested out this shade yet, but it looks fun and decent quality. I had to try and capture the different tones in the polish by photographing it in different light (today was far to bright) and I think the colours come up well in the photo above!

Be a Bombshell Eyeliner in Espresso, RRP: $19.00 – full sized product. Be a Bombshell has been featured in Violet boxes before and while it’s a little brand from the US, I haven’t fallen for any of the products so far. I loved the look of this product – a liquid liner with a fine felt tip which looks sturdy. I was so happy to get a chocolatey brown shade for something different to the regular black you would expect. I just don’t have luck with these felt/pen styled liquid liner applicators (I’ve tried Eye of Horus and Hourglass – both high quality brands) they just don’t apply evenly and opaquely enough for me. This unfortunately is no different. While the applicator tip itself looks and feels great, the formula of the liner lets in down. The rest of the packaging is also very plain and light – making it feel quite cheap. I tested it out as soon as I received it as I was excited about the product, but it wasn’t quite there.

I’m happy with this months Violet Box because it contained lots of new brands for me to trial! I really want to try the hairspray, nail polish and body cream (despite the scent, I love the formula so far). The Bioderma cleansing water will be perfect for trips but I will unfortunately have to pass on the eyeliner. 4 out of 5 of the products were very much to my liking so that’s pretty darn good! 😀 I’m much happier this month than I was last month.
