Cheap Thrills; Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lotion with Vitamin E 🧴🥥🌻
A while ago I read somewhere that studies have found that ‘cheap’ shopping finds give the most joy and satisfaction, compared to expensive goods. And you know what, I believe it! Often when we splurge, we feel guilty afterwards or we start to worry about our finances… Finding something that’s cheap and yet effective, can make us much more happy in the short and long run! 🎈 The same can be said for the ‘beauty category’. We are SO spoilt for choice; we can go from the cheapest of drugstore/supermarket products (in skincare, haircare, body care, perfumes, beauty gadgets, tools… you name it!) to the ridiculously expensive. One of the easiest categories to save some money in, is in body care category 🧴 I recently repurchased Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula after many, many years, and you know what. Every time I use it, it makes me happy! It’s texture and scent (famous scent because it’s sooo delicious), formula and price, make it a winner in my books 😉

Cocoa Butter Lotion with Vitamin E
The original product with a worldwide, cult following, Palmer’s cocoa butter lotion is developed with pure cocoa butter which melts on contact with the skin, helping to penetrate with antioxidants, as well as act as an emollient to lock in moisture and protect skin from the harsh elements of the environment. Also includes Vitamin E so not only does it moisturise, but it helps to keep your skin soft healthy and smooth. Rich, luxe and the very best in moisturising.
Active Ingredients
Cocoa Butter – Ethically & sustainably sourced by Palmer’s from cacao plantations in West Africa, Cocoa Butter is a rich natural source of vitamins, flavonoids, antioxidants and polyphenols. The unique Cocoa Mass Polyphenols fight free radicals and help skin perform at its beautiful best. It moisturises by bonding with the natural oils in your skin, nourishing deeply and without irritation. Cocoa Butter is also naturally rich in Vitamin E, a powerhouse vitamin for optimal skin health, leaving it radiant and beautiful.
Vitamin E – An antioxidant superhero, Vitamin E is skin’s number one friend, smoothing scars and protecting skin from damaging free radicals. Enhances the protective function of skin and decreases the appearance of lines, wrinkles and scars by keeping cells hydrated.
Palmer’s is an American brand that has been around for 175 years (made by the company E.T. Browne Drug Co.). They have been making natural based products for many generations and they are now sold in over 100 countries worldwide – making them physically accessible but also accessible in price for most ☺️✌️🧴🧼🛁🧽
Founded more than 175 years ago as one of America’s first skin care companies, E.T.Browne Drug Co Inc is a leader in natural-based, treatment-oriented beauty products with its trusted Palmer’s brand. Sold in over 100 countries worldwide, Palmer’s crafts products that are trusted and passed down from generation to generation.
Palmer’s Cocoa ‘Butter’ as I call it (because it is more of a body butter than a lotion…) has been and still is a cult product for a reason. It’s price makes the body butter accessible to most, it’s rich consistency is very moisturising and comforting but it’s also a pleasure to use thanks to its delicious cocoa butter scent. I think most Beauties will know of the scent I am talking about 😉🧴
Despite the lotion coming in a squeezy tube, it does have a thick and rich consistency. Sometimes this makes it difficult to squeeze out, but the trick is to shake the body butter before squeezing the lotion out and then it’s not much of a problem at all ☺️
The body butter definitely leaves a ‘film’ on the skin, but it also mostly absorbs, hydrating skin for hours. If you don’t like the moisturising ‘film’ or greasy feeling left behind by rich body moisturisers, it’s best to apply them in small amounts immediately after you hop out of the shower or bath. Your damp and warm skin will help the body butter absorb better and spread further (lessening the amount of product likely to ‘sit on top’ of skin). Better absorption means it also moisturisers your skin for longer! Does it moisturise skin for 24 hours? I think so! ✌️ It’s an incredibly comforting body butter and moisturiser. I love applying it to my legs post shaving when they feel parched and a bit irritated. Immediately my skin feels soothed and protected. I have used ‘pharmacy lotions’ for this purpose previously (when my skin became incredibly irritated and itchy post shaving) and I have to say that at the moment, the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter is working a treat.

The body butter formula contains a mixture of three butters and oils including; cocoa extract and butter (of course!), coconut oil, palm oil and sunflower seed oil. And you know what? For me both the texture, look
and effect of the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lotion is exactly the same as Kiehl’s Creme de Corps body butter. Sure, the Kiehl’s formula is naturally a little different but it is also based on cocoa butter. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lotion also contains vitamin E (a great antioxidant) while Kiehl’s Creme de Corps contains beta-carotene, squalene, olive oil, sweet almond oil and avocado oil. If price isn’t a consideration and you love the Kiehl’s body butter, than awesome, but Palmer’s Cocoa Butter is just as good in my books!
What about the price? It’s a bargain! For the standard 250ml body lotion, you pay around $7. However, at Woolworths you can often find it on special and the 400ml bottle (which comes with a pump!) costs $10! 🤯😲 Amazing right?!? Kiehl’s Creme de Corps costs $43 for 250ml, which is a huge price difference.
One concern I had, was that the price of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lotion meant that some of it’s ingredients (particularly the palm oil) was not made from sustainable sources. Luckily, it is and Palmer’s puts a lot of work in making sure that all of the key ingredients in their products (be it body care products, haircare or skincare) are sustainably farmed, fair trade and supply lines are transparent and accountable. This is so, so important for all the farmers working in third world countries. They deserve to be payed fairly for their hard work and the environment shouldn’t be sacrificed at the same time 🌎 To read more about the key ingredients used in Palmer’s products and where they are sourced from as well as how, read up on it here. I hope Palmer’s continues to develop it’s work in these areas so farmers and their communities can thrive… I know this is also important to a lot of consumers now (as it should be – we are all responsible for the planet!) and the Beauties reading this blog I’m sure ☺️

Where can you pick Palmer’s products up? Probably at a pharmacy (chemist) or supermarket near you! In Australia, they are available in pharmacies across the country, including Priceline and supermarkets. Palmer’s official Australian website also has a list of stockists and lots of information about their products.
That’s it beauties! A wonderful body lotion that costs pennies, but does a wonderful job! I can’t recommend it more highly enough, especially in these tough times when many Beauties will have to tighten their use strings and make every dollar count.
Do you love Palmer’s Cocoa Butter? What about other Palmer’s products? Have you given them a go? I’m definitely curious and will be trying more from their lines soon!
Catch ya next time,
Beauty Bee~
