Burberry Goodies: Fresh Glow BB Cream & Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base

Burberry makeup 😀 It just sounds wonderful. I picked up two products from their offering a few weeks back and now I am happy to share the results and my findings with you. What I love about their line is that it doesn’t look gimmicky. The tartan print on the metal casings looks beautiful and has weight to it – which feels luxe. The first product I ever tried from Burberry was a blush – a damn expensive blush but it was beautiful and didn’t let me down. It’s still a staple in my collection, despite the design disappearing from the surface of the blush. The next two items I picked up was their new Fresh Glow BB Cream and Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base – perfect for summer! I love anything that gives a healthy dewey finish so both these items were a no brainer for me 🙂

Let’s start with the Fresh Glow BB Cream. What is it supposed to do and look on the skin?

Introducing Fresh Glow B.B. Cream with SPF 20. A make-up and skincare hybrid that effortlessly moisturises, protects, perfects and enhances the skin to create the signature Burberry healthy-looking, dewy glow. Enhancing skin’s radiance and tone, buildable Fresh Glow B.B. Cream contains skin-matched colour pigments and Burberry signature blend of lavender, rosehip and tea. Contains SPF 20 to shield against damaging UVB rays.Moisturises, protects, perfects skinBuildable, sheer coverageContains Burberry signature blend

Fresh Glow BB Cream is perfect for summer when you want this look of effortless and natural beauty. It is most definitely a dewey base which is very much sheer with a translucency to it. It evens out skin tone and brightens but it does not provide coverage (so it won’t cover spots). It reminds me a little of the La Mer Skin Tint (which I’ve only tested in a department store) which is also super duper expensive. I don’t know why burberry thinks this BB cream is build able when it’s not. The translucency of the base is what makes it look so natural (hence you can’t build it up lol). It really is makeup which gives you the illusion of no makeup.

The shades are also quite golden – another reason this base is a great choice for summer. I have lightest shade out of the three available, No. 1 Fair. It is light but has a golden tone to it. The best way I can describe it is a honey beige. Because of the translucency of it, it should theoretically match most light skin tones, providing some slight warmth to the skin. I will give them major applause for the fact it isn’t ORANGE in the slightest – “And all the kingdom rejoiced!”.

I waited for the lighting to be ‘just right’ for this photo, so you could see the shade No. 01 Fair in it’s ‘truest’ form.

It leaves a nice sheen to the skin, which probably isn’t the favourite finish of oily skinned beauties. It brightens without the use of shimmer and I like that it contains some sunscreen (though i wouldn’t depend on this sun protection on its own) and antioxidants. It feels weightless and doesn’t feel greasy at all (it feels water based).  This would have been a total winner if they hadn’t claimed that the BB cream provided build able coverage when it doesn’t. I still love the effect it leaves on the skin. You can totally wear this BB Cream when at the beach, without feeling like you are wearing a mask. Oh – and it comes with a pump dispenser which is practical and useful.

I bought my BB Cream from Sephora, but unfortunately you still cannot buy it online from the Australian Sephora site (they have the limited edition collection on there, but none of the permanent line which is strange and irritating). You can buy it online from David Jones for $70 or from the Burberry website which delivers to Aus for free from the UK and you can pay is AUD! This BB Cream costs $68 on their site.

Ingredients: Water, Diethylhexyl Carbonate, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Diisostearoyl Polyglyceryl-3 Dimer Dilinoleate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Mica, Microcrystalline Wax, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Titanium Dioxide, Cetyl Peg/Ppg-10/1 Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Silica, Hexyl Laurate, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Cetyl Dimethicone, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Dimethicone, Corn Oil, Nylon-12 Fluorescent Brightener 230 Salt, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Tetrasodium Edta, Fragrance, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Aminomethyl Propanol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Polyvinylalcohol Crosspolymer, Lavandula Stoechas Extract, Bht, Benzyl Benzoate, Hydroxycitronellal, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, [May Contain: Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide].

Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base

Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base is a liquid highlighter or a illuminating foundation primer. I have the colour No. 01 Nude Radiance.

What are are ‘features’ of this luminous fluid base?

The whisper-light fluid illuminates the complexion, resulting in the Burberry glow. The 55% water-infused primer glides across the skin with incredible ease and hydrates instantly. Its blend of mirror-flat intense reflection pearls help to blur minor imperfections for a shimmer-free, youthful luminosity. The formula can be used in multiple ways: Apply to nude skin or under foundation to illuminate, blend into eye shadow, creating a glowing wash of transparency, smooth onto cheekbones, the bridge of the nose and the Cupid’s bow to highlight.Universal skin-illuminating baseFresh, water-based formulaMulti-use

Because it is 55% water it feels a little like a light-weight gel. It isn’t silicone based, so it doesn’t have that silicone feel at all. It also has that transparency to it, like the BB Cream. This means, that while the shimmers are pearly pink/beige, it isn’t highly metallic or pigmented. It won’t look stark on darker skin tones because your skin tone will shine through from underneath it. The shimmers are very delicate and subtle, so again, if you want a glow that looks natural and not ‘manufactured’ at all – this highlighter/primer is for you! Because it is so light, I prefer to use it as a highlighter. It almost feels like a very light moisturiser and it doesn’t make my foundation last noticeably longer. It would be a fantastic base or hightlight for oily skinned lasses, because it is so delicate and not greasy at all.

The Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base also comes with a pump dispenser, which is perfect! It contains your usual 30ml (usual for base products) and comes in at $70 here in Aus and on the Burberry website. I didn’t see shade no. 2 in Golden Radiance at Sephora when I was there, though I expect it was there, I just missed it. It looks like a honey bronze shade from what I can see online. Also, the packaging is plastic besides the ‘lid’ which is metal.

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Isohexadecane, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide, Polysorbate 80, Panthenol, Carbomer, Sorbitan Oleate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Tocopherol. +/- (May Contain): CI 77019 (Mica), CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491 (Iron Oxides).

The products are of course pricey but they are extra lovely. All of the Burberry cosmetics have the same scent – a powdery floral. It’s less rose like than the Chanel scent and it disappears after application.

I will post up a look using these products soon beauties, I’m just not feeling doing a ‘bare faced’ before and after shot atm lol

Have you tried any Burberry makeup beauties?
