    Review: Jennifer Lopez X Inglot

When I saw that JLO was collaborating on a collection of makeup with INGLOT, I was seriously impressed! :O INGLOT is a Polish makeup brand, known quite well in different parts of the world for creating high quality makeup products targeted towards makeup artists and makeup aficionados. They release seasonal collections, but from what I’m aware, they don’t do the whole celebrity endorsement ‘thing’. I think they always wanted to focus on the makeup and it’s quality, and I can

Freebies with Purchases & Loyalty Programs; Why are we so Behind?

This past week, those with a Mecca loyalty account, received a special birthday version of their quarterly Beauty Loop boxes (to celebrate Mecca’s 20th anniversary birthday). For those who have no idea what I am on about, a Beauty Loop box comes in three different levels (1, 2 or 3, depending on how much you spend at Mecca) and entitles you to some deluxe samples and freebies. The higher up you go, the more you receive. The birthday Beauty Loop box was different in that every

Review: Tatcha’s Kyoto Red Silk Lipstick

I’ve been meaning to get this post out to you beauties a few days ago, but trying to get used to my new schedule and second job is seriously tiring! But here it is! Tatcha makes some amazing skincare – every product feels and looks like it’s been handmade by an artisan from the Edo period 😛 They’ve started moving into the realm of makeup (lipsticks specifically) and they are just as amazing as their skincare products. I often feel like a lot of ‘luxe’ cosmetic brands, don’t

Book Review: Makeup by Liz Kelsh

Ahhh makeup books – how I love thou 😀 <3 There’s something special about makeup books. Not only can you flick through the pages, touch the photographs, soak up the scent of the ink (oh yes!) but they are also primarily written by industry super weights. They are a gold mine of information you can’t usually find anywhere else. Liz Kelsh is a makeup artist who originally hails from Ireland. She has now settled in Aus, after a long career working on fashion shows, magazine edit

Review and GIVEAWAY! Dior’s Les Neiges De Diorsnow

I’m back beauty bees! I hope you haven’t been to disappointed with the lack of posts lately, I’ve been a busy bee with both work and with getting this new site organised for you (I didn’t forget about you, silly!). During the sites down time , I have had time to send my minions to work, searching the exotic world for a treat worthy enough for my beauty bees (that means competition!) and I finally have it! But first a review 🙂 I think my spirit animal is a fox 🙂 Winter is fi

    Long Wearing Makeup: My Experience

Hi Beauties! Recently, I went down to Canberra for a work conference. I was a little nervous because I had never attended a conference of this size before and one at which I would hopefully, meet some potential future employers (that always raises the pressure and potential awkwardness right up!). One thing I did not want to worry about – and instead, wanted it to work on my behalf by giving me more confidence, was my makeup. So what did I need it to do? Well, I needed it to

Review: Charlotte Tilbury & Norman Parkinson, Colour of Youth Healthy, Happy Lip & Cheek G

I usually try and stay away from limited edition collections, seeing as some brands release sooo many of them, it’s getting ridiculous. Added to that – limited edition products are usually so-so in quality, so it really does seem like a flat out marketing ploy most of the time. I haven’t tried any Charlotte Tilbury products to date (though I have wanted to try one of her eyeshadow quads for ages) and I have to admit that her new limited edition collection hooked me instantly,

Review: L’Oreal’s Mega Volume Collagen Miss Manga Mascara in Tropical Violet

When I saw L’Oreal’s new Miss Manga mascara, my heart skipped a beat to be honest lol 15 year old Beauty Bee was obsessed Japanese Manga, in particular Sailor Moon. When I say obsessed, I mean obsessed. I still enjoy anime and I thought it would be fun to try the mascara, since I don’t usually stray away from my Dior Diorshow mascara. When I popped by Priceline (a drugstore here in Aus) I saw that there were some coloured Miss Manga mascaras – Tropical Violet, Electric Blue a

Review: Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream & AC/ME Eyeshadows

Australis Cosmetics is a drug store Australian brand and they have been making affordable makeup products since the 90s. I can still remember some of their ad campaigns from the 90s – think beach girl, sporting the quintessential 90s nude makeup look. I haven’t bought anything from the brand in years and years, so when a few of their products started gaining popularity, I thought it was time I check them out again. You can buy their products at Priceline or online through the

    Makeup Look: Tropical Summer Days

Now this is a summer makeup look which is out of my comfort zone, but I really wanted to do something different on a hot summers day. And I’m pretty chuffed with how it turned out 🙂 I used three tones of purple (mattes) on my eyelid. Using the lightest shade on the inner corner of my eye, the purple shades progressively deepen towards the outer corner of the eye lid. As you can see, the bottom eyelid pops using some yellow and orange eyeshadow (also matte textures – the colo

Review: Lipstick Queen’s Liptropolis Lipstick Library

I bought this awesome trio of lipsticks along with my Jungle Queen lipstick a little while ago, and I am now ready to review it for you lovelies 🙂 Becoming reacquainted  with the world of Lipstick Queen means a lot of choice and so I had to make my decisions carefully 😉 I bought this trio set because a) the packaging is awesome and it caught my attention straightaway – there’s something Gotham City like about it, and b) the word ‘Liptropolis’ reminded me of Janelle Monae wh

Beauty Blush Playground No. 4: MAC Modern Mandarin

Welcome beauties, to another new stop on the blush carousel! Now this is a blush that looks soooo gorgeous and juicy, that I bought it on a whim – even though I wasn’t totally convinced that I could wear it and pull it off! Just look at the brightness and intensity of that colour! Luckily, it’s not very red toned, which means that the tones of the blush aren’t tooo deep and so lighter complexions should technically be able to pull it off. One draw back with a shade like this

    July Favourites

Happy August beauties! Another month is down and another begins. I can’t say July was terrible, it had it’s ups and it’s downs like every month. August will be interesting because it’s the beginning of a new academic semester so I will go back to teaching again (which I do enjoy) and my boyfriend will  be away on a trip for most of the month (90% of the month actually) which will be different (I don’t want to sound pathetic now haha). It’s also starting to warm up in Sydney w

Review: Avon’s ANEW Clinical CC Cream

I know I keep saying that I am not into the whole BB and CC cream ‘boom’ as the couple that I have tried weren’t that impressive. To me they are just glorified tinted moisturisers and the colour selections are usually pretty bad (why are most of them orange or very yellow toned?!). If a cream claims to do 20 different things, it probably doesn’t do them well (if you have skin care concerns, use a trageted treament product). I received a sample of Avon’s new CC cream from my s

Review: Stila’s In the Light Eye Shadow Palette

So today, Sydney feels like this: It’s 14 degrees today, which may sound not toooo bad – but, there’s a difference between a dry cold and a moist cold. We get the ‘moist’ kind, so because there’s lots of moisture in the air, it feels colder than it actually is. I remember when I was in Europe and it would be below zero, it was cold but it was bearable because the air was so dry. Oh and it’s raining and it’s windy. Just awful. Ok, so now that I complained for a bit, let’s move

Hyakusuke, a Little Makeup Shop in Tokyo.

My brother recently came back from Japan and he bought me some traditional Japanese theatrical makeup and makeup brushes 🙂 I have been to Japan but not to Tokyo where this little makeup shop is located. It’s a family run store and has been around for 200 years (I know – crazy huh!). The makeup and makeup brushes they sell are specifically designed for Kabuki theatre  actors and Geishas, so you can just imagine the aesthetic look of the items and colours 🙂 The shop is quite

    MAC’s Lady D.

So my very orange adventure continues with the discovery (albeit a little late 😉 ) of MAC’s famous lipstick Lady Danger. I would have never dreamed of wearing this shade a few months ago. But now, I’m just doing whatever the hell I want lol You can definitely wear any colour you want, its just about finding the right tone! The paler the shade, the more cautious I am that it will wash me out. It’s a double edged sword though, because I have quite neutral undertones and yet ve

    Everyday, Polished & Natural Makeup

For me, the perfect day time makeup look is one which take me 15minutes to do, looks very natural, but leaves me ‘polished’ and looking more awake. It take some practise to get all of the elements right – using makeup to look natural is a little bit of an oxymoron when you think about it lol and usually there’s a fair few products involved. But it is achievable! Like with anything, its probably about practise and using the right textures. The most natural colours to use are e
